FAQs

Is an End of Life Doula a recognised role within palliative care?

Palliative Care Australia (PCA) — the national peak body for palliative care — has officially recognised the emergence of end-of-life doulas as a growing part of the palliative care landscape. In collaboration with state/territory palliative care peak bodies and Flinders University, PCA developed dedicated resources in recent years, including:

  • A factsheet on "End-of-Life Doulas and Palliative Care" to help palliative care services, health professionals, patients, and families understand and collaborate with doulas. Download here.

  • A "Questions to Ask an End-of-Life Doula" guide for those considering engaging one. Download here.
